The opening track, “Happening Now”, rides on a warm, sunset-like groove that recalls the smoother rhythms of Lionel Richie. Its lyrics dive into reflective territory, searching for meaning while keeping a steady, sing-along chorus that grows in intensity. The way the song shifts from delicate verses to a hook that demands audience participation shows the duo’s ability to design tracks that are meditative and engaging.
Next comes “Love You Better”, which takes a darker turn. The slightly megaphone-filtered vocals in the introduction create a hypnotic mood that feels cinematic. As the song develops, the rhythm grows more insistent, echoing Gorillaz in its layered beats, but Social Gravy elevate the style with more polished melodies.
