The band doesn’t linger in one mood for long. “Summer Rain” shifts the tone toward refinement and restraint. The vocal performance here feels soft and floating, almost like a candle flickering in a dim room. Because of this delicate delivery, the atmosphere becomes suspended and intimate. The Report’s sound pulls from the rich tapestry of ‘60s/’70s rock, ‘90s indie, and contemporary artists like Father John Misty, The Staves and Half Moon Run.
Formed in 2019 around the songwriting partnership of Hugo Allen (vocals/guitar) and Jo Rogers (keys/vocals), the band’s lineup is completed by Gary O’Key (bass), Jules Harley (drums) and Mark Williamson (guitar). Together they create a signature mix of emotionally honest lyricism, layered harmonies and intricate guitar piano arrangements described as “deeply personal and universally relatable.”
