James Laurent is a 26-year-old Ecuadorian-American engineer and artist from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. After a knee injury at 17 ended his hopes of playing professional soccer in Sweden, he taught himself music production using a family laptop and a borrowed USB mic.
By 20, he was a sought-after engineer in Los Angeles, and by 23 he had moved into post-production, contributing to projects for South Park, Nickelodeon Animation Studios, and Cartoon Network. He is also one of the youngest engineers to design and configure Dolby Atmos–certified studios, including two rooms for Amazon Music in Culver City.
James now works as a Media Systems Engineer for FX Networks while creating music from his bedroom studio, and he is also an active graphic designer and VFX artist.
