The track, backed by a throwback-style video, delivers exactly what you’d hope for from a group of seasoned musicians who live and breathe what they play.
It’s loud, gritty, honest, and gloriously unpolished in all the right ways.
From the first power chord, you’re dropped into a room where real people are making real noise. There’s no filter, no flash — just denim, leather, amps, and sweat. The band plays like they’ve been doing this for years, and you can tell they’re not just performing — they’re enjoying every second of it. That chemistry is what gives “Death of Me” its drive. It’s tight without being sterile, rough without losing clarity.
Jimmy Davis’ guitar cuts through with authority, delivering riffs that feel urgent. His role as the composer adds another layer to the authenticity. On vocals, Dennis Hill delivers with grit and attitude — no theatrics, just a voice shaped by years of shouting over drums and distortion. His worn-out shirt becomes a badge of honor, a reminder that rock has never been about dressing up — it’s about showing up and letting it rip.
The rhythm section holds its own, locking into a groove that gives the song its backbone. The bass and drums don’t fight for attention — they build the floor the rest of the track stands on. There’s an unshakable confidence in the way these guys play together, and that trust in each other powers the entire performance.
The video nails that late ‘90s MTV vibe, back when music was rougher, louder, and full of life. No green screens, no gimmicks — just a group of friends in a room blasting out their truth. It’s the kind of clip that makes you want to grab an instrument, join a band, and start sweating for something real.
“Death of Me” is rock the way it’s meant to be: loud, passionate, and straight from the gut..

Fronting the first wave of this evolving lineup is Dennis Hill (The California Sunsets/Face to Face), whose raw vocals cut through a wall of sound crafted by the triple guitar attack of Scott Shiflett (Eagles of Death Metal, Face to Face), Erik Ferentinos (Stephen Pearcy’s Ratt) and “The Project” visionary Jimmy Davis (Shameless). Holding down the low end is Kevin Baldes of Lit, locking in with the thunderous drumming of Jimmy DeAnda (BulletBoys, George Lynch). Together this lineup stitches together the past, present, and future of rock with fearless energy.
The Project is the brainchild of Cali-rock scene’s own James Davis who originally made waves in the 00s with his previous band Shameless as lead guitarist. The band won Best Hard Rock Band at the Southern California Music Awards in 2006, Best Hard Rock Band Rock City News in 2005 and 2006, and Best Metal Band at the Inland Empire Music awards in 2006.
