Opening with lush pads and an intro reminiscent of 80s rock, yet delivered with a modern production twist, the paves the way for an intriguing ride.
It’s as if a mellow version of Ghost had taken a detour into a more reflective, melodic realm.
The reverb-soaked guitars and subtle background distortions shape an almost dystopian and futuristic vibe, rooted in past influences.
The rhythmic pulse is relentless, driving forward with a solid and unyielding momentum. What I like the most is the richness of the arrangements: they feel purposeful, never overdone, balancing harmonic and rhythmic variations that keep the listener engaged from start to finish.
There’s a sense of movement throughout the song, like being in a speeding car heading toward a distant horizon.

RISE is a dynamic four-piece band from Liverpool, England, known for their high-energy performances and distinctive sound. The lineup features Sam Kinley (aka stayMellow) on bass and vocals, Paul Kinley on keyboards and backing vocals, Alex Mahoney on drums, and Brian Petch on guitar.
Blending high-tempo rock with melodic vocal hooks and a seamless mix of synths and guitars, RISE crafts a unique sound rooted in melodic rock, with subtle nods to progressive influences.
Their latest single, “Dreams”, captures the band’s spirited essence with its upbeat, driving energy. The track explores the journey of pursuing dreams and aspirations without a clear map. The song was recorded at Whitewood Studios in Liverpool and produced by Rob Whiteley.
