For Dylan, Forever Ago is Platitudes’ Album Out Now

Good Day Noir Family,
Some records feel like they were never meant for the stage or the charts—they were meant to be whispered to someone in a quiet room.

For Dylan, Forever Ago is Platitudes’ Album Out Now

For Dylan, Forever Ago by Platitudes is one of those albums. It’s personal, intimate, and unafraid to say the difficult things out loud.

The opening track, “Time to Come Home,” sets the emotional tone. A gentle guitar arpeggio introduces a tribute to a lost son, delivered with an honesty that’s hard to shake. It’s not grandiose—it’s soft-spoken and direct, and that’s exactly why it works. The lyrics are vulnerable, the performance understated yet full of weight.

“Steel Umbrella” follows with a more rhythmic pulse, carrying a groove that brings to mind the swagger of Amy Winehouse’s “Back to Black.” It still retains the record’s reflective spirit, but adds a different kind of nostalgia—one dressed in retro finesse.

Then there’s “Fade Away,” which feels like it floats in its own space. A moody, slightly surreal track that lingers like a dream you’re not quite sure you want to wake from. It shows Platitudes’ ability to explore different textures without losing their emotional core.

“No Nearer Getting Over You” strips everything back again. A minimalist piano ballad full of restraint, it leans on the rawness of loss and longing. There’s nothing excessive here—just melody, memory, and that feeling of trying to move on when you’re not ready.

“Numbered Days” continues this conversational approach, as though the singer is sitting across from you, letting the story unfold in real time. The vocal performance feels incredibly close—like someone confiding in you rather than performing for you.

Closing track “Song for My Daughters” brings it full circle. Refined and heartfelt, it captures the record’s essence: real emotion, laid bare without filters. It’s a letter, a lullaby, and a quiet promise, all in one.

For Dylan, Forever Ago doesn’t try to hide behind metaphor or studio sheen. It’s an album that tells the truth, even when it hurts, and in doing so, becomes something truly rare.
