Good Day Noir Family,
Blunt Blade’s Forgiveness opens with “Sprawling,” a track that sets a tone of unease.
Forgiveness is Blunt Blade’s Album Out Now
A haunting keyboard riff creeps forward, drawing the listener into a maze of unpredictable guitar textures. It feels like stepping into a dream that’s one step removed from reality—curious, unstable, and deeply engaging.
“Justified” ups the tempo but not the clarity. It thrives in chaos, blending a jagged rhythm with vocals that sound beamed in from another realm. There’s a sci-fi edge to this track, pushing boundaries with a deliberate disregard for convention.
“Hindrance” shifts the atmosphere entirely. It floats like a thought suspended in time, held in place by a delicate synth that pulses gently without ever bursting. There’s something intimate in its restraint, like being sealed in a fragile orb watching a world unfold from above.
“Careless Acts” stands out as one of the boldest moments on the album. It strips away familiar song structure in favor of a more abstract expression, relying on electronic flourishes and unorthodox pacing. Think Brian Eno at his most daring, or Peter Gabriel in one of his more experimental phases—this track feels more like an installation than a song.
Closing track “Forgiveness” is where everything crystallizes. With a distant echo of Bowie in its delivery and tone, it plays like a dystopian lullaby. Its depth doesn’t scream for attention—it whispers to the soul, offering a reflection rather than resolution.
Blunt Blade has crafted something truly distinct with Forgiveness. This isn’t background music. It demands a full listen, preferably with headphones and an open mind. It’s the kind of record that rewards patience and curiosity.

Blunt Blade is a genre-defying artist hailing from southeast Minnesota. Blending electronic, indie, hard rock, classical, and even touches of disco, his sound is as unpredictable as it is unmistakable. With influences ranging from Frank Zappa to Tame Impala, Miles Davis to Iron Maiden, Blunt Blade creates music as diverse as his inspirations. A multi-instrumentalist since childhood and founder of the cover band Chainsaw Vendetta, he brings baritone vocals and sharp musicianship to every track. His debut album was mixed by Eric Oehler (Submersible Studios), and his follow-up Forgiveness was mastered at Abbey Road Studios. Both records were produced by Aaron Ruppert of Sharpening Stone Records.
