Neandertal is Giù’s Album Out Now

Good Day Noir Family,
From the incipit of En Acier Trempé, Giù paves the way for an atmosphere rooted in tradition and undeniably visionary.

Neandertal is Giù’s Album Out Now

There’s something about French as a sung language that naturally carries a sense of depth and texture, and here it’s paired with refined songwriting that nods to the past while embracing a modern edge.

The follow-up, Réveille-Toi, takes a sharp turn with an intense rhythm and a riff that flirts with hard rock. There’s a darker mood here, an energy that contrasts the subtle sophistication of the opener, revealing another layer to Giù’s artistic personality. It’s a track that feels alive with urgency, almost as if it’s shaking you awake, just as the title suggests.

The album’s namesake, Neandertal, carries a sly, almost theatrical quality. Its rhythmic cadence is playful yet controlled, with a bassline that stands out as one of the album’s strongest elements—thick, driving, and full of character. It’s a song that proves Giù’s ability to create moments that feel timeless.

Coucher de Soleil keeps the energy high, leaning into a fast-paced rock sound that channels the spirit of the ‘70s without feeling like imitation. It’s vibrant and full of movement, the kind of track that begs for a live audience.

Then comes Zone de Contrôle, which slows things down just enough to hypnotize. The opening guitar riff, touched with a subtle tremolo, blends beautifully with warm keyboards that give the piece a slightly pastoral, almost progressive rock feel. It’s a song that feels like a transition—a bridge between the album’s heavier rock sensibilities and its more experimental edges.

Écho closes the record with a dystopian atmosphere. Distorted guitars push forward while Giù’s voice floats above, light and airy, creating a sharp and fascinating contrast. It’s an ending that leaves you with questions rather than answers, a lingering resonance that feels intentional.

Neandertal is an album that moves confidently between moods—sophisticated, theatrical, intense, and reflective—without ever losing its sense of direction. Giù proves he’s an artist unafraid to stretch his sound, blending rock roots with a modern sensibility and a taste for subtle experimentation.
