A new version of the famous hit “November Rain” has been released by Guns N’ Roses to celebrate the 30th-anniversary edition of the album Use Your Illusion I.

Guns N’ Roses became successful with the song in the 1990s but its origins date back to the mid-’80s before the band existed.

Axel Rose composed “November Rain” entirely on his own. Created the orchestral sounds and string arrangements on a synthesizer. Slash added his own touch with his solos.

In the updated version of the track, the original synthesized orchestration has been replaced by a 50-piece orchestra recorded in 2021. The composer is the Grammy award-winning Christopher Lennertz.

If the orchestration represents the big difference in the intro of the new release, other changes appear as you go on listening.

In fact, the new track makes Rose’s vocals stand out a bit more. The spotlight really shines on them. Moreover, during the last verse of the song, there’s another string melody that didn’t appear in the original version of “November Rain”.

But it is in the outro where things get really spicy. Here the build-up to Slash’s explosive guitar melody sounds more dramatic than on the original. The string section sounds like it’s gearing up for war.

At last, in the video of their new release, Guns N’ Roses haven’t still revealed how Stephanie Seymour’s character dies. Maybe it will be forever a secret!
