Good Day Noir Family,
The7thGatekeeper delivers a track that feels like a psychological labyrinth with Not to Be Taken.

Not to Be Taken is The7thGatekeeper’ Single Out Now

The song begins with a whisper of a vocal quickly followed by a visionary guitar riff that immediately reveals the artist’s experimental and conceptual approach.

This isn’t a composition built for background listening. When the main vocals enter, they’re layered with ghostly doubles and overlapping phrases, producing a disorienting effect. It’s as if multiple voices are speaking inside your head at once, their messages colliding and clashing. The result is a soundscape of paranoia and unease, a sonic portrayal of intrusive thoughts and internal chaos.

The chord progression is carefully constructed, shifting through intricate changes that keep you off balance while maintaining a clear narrative thread. Rhythmic transitions add to the unpredictability, preventing any sense of comfort from taking root. This tension is central to the track’s impact—there’s a sense of being pursued, of something just behind you that you can’t quite escape.

Lyrically and tonally, Not to Be Taken feels like a meditation on mental entrapment. The music mirrors the emotional state of someone unable to break free from an oppressive cycle, where moments of clarity are fleeting and quickly drowned out by the return of the voices. The intensity builds until the listener is completely immersed in the experience, creating a claustrophobic yet artistically rich atmosphere.

What makes this track so striking is its refusal to conform. The7thGatekeeper’s approach is raw and fearless, embracing discomfort as a creative tool. It’s an unsettling listen in the best way possible, a work that uses its strangeness to become unforgettable.

Haunting!

The7thGatekeeper was solely responsible for writing, arranging, performing, and mixing the song, with final mastering handled by Romesh Dodangoda at Longwave Studios in Cardiff. Drawing inspiration from the heavier end of their musical tastes, the track reflects early Slipknot influences and Lamb of God-inspired guitar work.

The release emerged from deeply personal and complex life experiences, capturing emotions and situations that the artist has long struggled to escape. Initially uncertain about releasing it, they ultimately decided to share it in the hope that listeners might connect with its themes.

Recorded entirely in the artist’s small home, the production included layered vocals to intentionally create a chaotic atmosphere that matched the song’s intensity. The track will appear on their upcoming second original album, set for release later this year, with a second covers EP planned for the following spring.
