Even though it is a live recording, the mix feels precise and full of subtle detail, and yet the energy never feels restrained.
An airy guitar arpeggio opens the piece and gently pulls you in, while the drums arrive with a steady, almost ceremonial pulse. That rhythm does not dominate; it supports the atmosphere and lets the song breathe. Then the female vocal enters, and suddenly the entire mood shifts into something deeply immersive.
Her timbre carries shades of Tori Amos and Sinéad O’Connor, and yet it remains clearly her own. The way she bends notes and holds certain phrases creates a hypnotic tension that stays with you long after each line ends. What truly gives “Oblivion (Live)” its identity is the way the band plays with harmony. Slight dissonances appear at just the right moments, and because of that the music sometimes feels unstable in a beautiful way.
