Opening with “Ghosts,” the band creates a swirl of eerie effects and builds a disorienting dystopia—part sci-fi nightmare, part alt-rock fever dream.
It’s the sonic version of crossing into another realm, one where shadows pulse and nothing feels still.
Then comes “Play Dead,” a centerpiece track that charges forward with punishing drums and thick, resinous guitars. The textures here aren’t just heavy—they cling. There’s a physicality to the instrumentation that feels unavoidable. Layered over this, the lead vocal floats like smoke above the wreckage—ethereal but controlled, like a chant caught in a storm. It doesn’t overpower the chaos; it directs it.
“Creep” follows, and while the atmosphere stays dark, the pacing shifts. The vocal delivery sharpens, and the rhythmic structure tightens. The track’s chorus lands hard, revealing the band’s strong melodic instincts beneath the noise. Guitar riffs cut in angular patterns, pushing against the smoother vocal lines. It’s a contrast that works—like machinery grinding through velvet.
Final track “Harmony” starts with a jarring guitar effect, intentionally abrasive—like nails dragging across metal. But that dissonance is short-lived, giving way to a full-force sonic eruption. The band lets loose completely here, creating a wild, unrestrained conclusion that feels more like a controlled explosion than chaos for chaos’ sake.
There’s something distinctly modern about UNB4RRED’s approach. Their sound is rooted in alternative hard rock and industrial textures, but it’s filtered through a futuristic lens. Nothing feels retro or recycled. Each song strikes a balance between aggression and purpose, distortion and clarity.

UNB4RREDis a rising alternative band formed in mid-2023 by Dan and Lewis, who began by turning casual jam sessions into a serious musical pursuit. Initially a duo—Dan on lead guitar and Lewis on drums and vocals—they crafted the first version of Play Dead by June 2024. Soon after, Lewis shifted focus solely to drums, prompting a search for a dedicated vocalist. That’s when Áine joined in July 2024, immediately becoming the band’s frontwoman after a standout audition. With their lineup complete, the trio recorded Play Dead, Creep, and Harmony, leading to their debut Play Dead EP.
