RELIVE is The Mary Jane’s Album Out Now
Its mysterious, almost desert-like atmosphere sets a fascinating tone for the entire album, drawing listeners in with its inviting, distant vibe. The track feels like a journey…
RELIVE bursts into full action as the album progresses with “Through The Doors.” The moment that first guitar riff hits, it’s clear: we’re in the presence of a band heavily inspired by the sounds of the ’90s. Dissonant chords, a voice powerhouse, and a chorus that explodes into distorted guitars and melodies immediately call to mind bands like Soundgarden.
Next up is “Let Me Out,” which opens with an intriguing guitar riff that quickly transitions into a heavy rhythm. The weight of the beat compels you to move your head in sync with the tempo, creating an undeniable groove that pulls you deeper into the album. It’s one of those tracks that’s perfect for getting lost in.
“Old” is a standout on RELIVE, especially thanks to the punchy sound of the drums. It has a raw, almost live feel that recalls the power and precision of bands like Live. The tightness of the drumming here—combined with the vocals that at times evoke the legendary Chris Cornell—creates a track that feels both nostalgic and fresh. The band’s ability to channel ’90s grunge while maintaining a distinct identity is evident in every beat.
“International Cow Congress in Salzburg” shows off the band’s ability to bring a modern twist to grunge, proving that they’ve spent a lot of time crafting this perfect blend of sound. It’s clear that these musicians have worked hard to find that elusive alchemy between them, and the result is electrifying.
“Merkuzio” is another highlight of the album, with the bass taking center stage in a way that brings to mind Flea’s unmistakable style. The energetic rhythm, combined with an infectious energy, makes this track a true standout—vibrant, fast-paced, and bursting with life.
However, RELIVE isn’t all fast-paced anthems. The ballad “By The Way” shows a softer, more introspective side of the band. There’s an emotional depth to this track that sets it apart from the rest, with a nostalgic touch that proves the band’s versatility.
The album wraps up with two versions of “Smash It,” one acoustic and one distorted. The distorted version, in particular, is a fitting close to an album that has maintained a high level of intensity throughout.
RELIVE with its mix of heavy riffs, powerful vocals, and a strong sense of rhythm, it’s an album that speaks to fans of ’90s rock while offering something fresh and exciting.
