Good Day Noir Family,
Open Trench grabs you by the collar and slams you against a garage wall, sticky with sweat and distortion.

Sting is Open Trench’s EP Out Now

Their EP Sting is a feral punch in the gut to overproduced, plastic-shelled pop.

This is the raw edge of rock/punk, where the amps crackle, the beer is warm, and nothing is programmed or polished. And thank God for that.

The opener, Blind Leading the Blind, throws down the gauntlet with zero hesitation. It’s rough, direct, and explosive—a signal that this EP isn’t here to play nice.

Then comes Track 2, which leans into a darker energy, letting the vocals show more restraint without ever losing that sandpaper grit. There’s a relentless drive underneath, and it keeps you locked in.

What Were Your Intentions? is where the band takes a slight turn without breaking stride. The riff flirts with Foo Fighters and Nirvana territory, giving the track a grunge-laced edge while maintaining the band’s punk roots. It’s melodic, sure, but not soft—there’s a bite under the surface that never lets up.

The title track Sting might be the tightest of the bunch. Kicking off with a riff that wouldn’t feel out of place on Dookie, it grows into a layered, dynamic burst of punk-rock unity. The bassline threads itself seamlessly into the drums, creating a groove that holds steady.

And then there’s the acoustic version of What Were Your Intentions?—a stripped-back closer that recalls the golden age of MTV Unplugged. It’s raw, a little fragile, but still unmistakably Open Trench. No fake sentiment, no gimmicks. Just four walls, a mic, and a band laying it bare.

Sting is a reminder of what real bands sound like—loud, flawed, and alive.
