The Silence Of The Lambs is Shape Of Water’s Single Out Now
Good Day Noir Family,
Shape of Water’s new single The Silence of the Lambs opens with an unexpected touch of baroque flair: the gentle pluck of a harpsichord arpeggio sets a dark, almost grotesque atmosphere.

From that eerie moment, the track quickly shifts gears as electric guitars burst in with a furious intensity. The speed and power of the riff are nearly overwhelming, but it’s clear that this is a band unafraid to mix genres in a way that challenges and excites.
The song lives in a space where musical theatre meets progressive metal, creating something that feels larger than life.
The theatrical quality is undeniable. Imagine Hannibal Lecter making his grand entrance on a Broadway stage, his presence as imposing as the pounding guitars that follow.
It’s dramatic and unsettling—perfect for a musical exploration of tension, intrigue, and power.
The production here is pristine, allowing each instrument to shine while still supporting the intricate melodies and chaotic shifts in tempo.
One of the track’s most infectious qualities is its chorus, which manages to stay accessible and memorable, even with all the musical complexity at play. Despite the song’s intensity, there’s a rhythm that pulls you in, making the wild changes in direction feel natural rather than jarring.
A fantastic moment in the song is the bridge, where the pace slows down, and the mood turns almost ancestral. The keys here create an ethereal quality, adding mystical depth before the song picks up again.
And when it does, the musical chaos returns with a flurry of tempo changes and time signatures that bring to mind Flight of the Bumblebee, but with a much darker edge.
What really strikes you about The Silence of the Lambs is how Shape of Water embraces the chaos and uses it to their advantage.
These are musicians with a clear desire to push boundaries. The result is a track that not only demonstrates their musical skill but also their ability to surprise and engage the listener at every turn.

Shape of Water is an electronic art rock band hailing from Manchester, United Kingdom, formed in 2018 by Rox Capriotti and Luca De Falco. Known for their “genre-fluid” music that blends rock, electronic elements, and atmospheric soundscapes, the band invites listeners to experience their unique world without boundaries. Rox and Luca met in 2004 in their hometown of San Benedetto del Tronto, Italy, forming their first band, The Lotus. After relocating to Manchester in 2015, they founded Shape of Water, exploring themes of human emotion, societal issues, and political critique. Their debut album, Great Illusions, produced by Paul Reeve (Muse, Beta Band, Supergrass) with additional mixing by Sky Van Hoff (Rammstein, Kreator, Caliban), was released in 2020 to critical acclaim. Noted publications like Classic Rock, Rolling Stone.de, and Metal.de praised the album’s depth and artistry.
When COVID-19 disrupted plans for live promotion, Shape of Water quickly adapted with widely received live-streamed performances. Early in 2021, they reimagined some of their music on the EP Lockdown On Mars and released a live EP, Livestream From Mars, recorded during their virtual shows. Post-pandemic, they resumed live performances, supporting acts like Radkey, Bad Touch, and Christian Death, and appeared at UK festivals such as Call Of The Wild, HRH Sleaze, and Heaven & Hell Festival 23. In 2022, the band released their second album, Amor Fati, via Eclipse Records. This album explores determinism and questions free will through a dark, introspective lens. For Halloween, they released a double single featuring “A Ghost In Manchester” and a haunting cover of “Mr. Sandman.”
