The Song I Scream in the Shower is ettie’s Single Out Now
The track opens with an atmospheric guitar line, paving the way before ettie’s spirited vocals break through with a distinctly rebellious tone.
There’s something about her voice—raw, vibrant, and full of attitude—that gives the song an unmistakable sense of urgency.
What really strikes me is how the song leans heavily into higher frequencies, creating a crisp and punchy mix. The vocals sit right at the forefront, delivering a burst of energy that feels refreshing and unapologetically bold. The driving rhythm gives the song a rock edge, while the catchy, punk-infused chorus almost dares you not to move.
It’s wild, it’s loud, and it’s the kind of track that makes you want to let loose.
The snare sound is particularly striking, sharp and relentless, it hits like a punch and perfectly complements the dynamic guitar work.
The melodies are instantly memorable, reminiscent of the catchy hooks from bands like Blink-182. When the bridge comes around, it’s playful and a bit ironic, offering a brief, clever pause before launching into a powerful finale.
ettie has a knack for blending rock and punk elements while maintaining a sense of playful irreverence. This song feels like an anthem for anyone looking to unleash their wilder side. It’s spirited, rebellious… an explosion of personality!

Ettie is a writer first and foremost, using writing and storytelling as an escape, whether it was from being bullied very badly through school or her challenging upbringing at home. She wrote her first songs aged nine, having taught herself to play the guitar, and started gigging around London when she was 16, trying desperately to be cool as a pop punk singer on a scene where pop punk wasn’t cool at all. At Uni she studied English Literature, specialising in Shakespeare whose work became a huge contributor to her love of lyricism and wordplay.
Coming out as a lesbian “later in life” in her early twenties presides over her experience. All of a sudden there was no reason to hide anything anymore. With no skeletons in the closet Ettie channelled her love of Patti Smith, early 2000s boyband anthems and female fronted rock into her own unapologetic take on what crashing guitars, thoughtful lyrics and big melodies can achieve together.
