Good Day Noir Family,
HalfCutLemon’s This Ain’t Real is a record that refuses to play by conventional rules. It’s raw, unpredictable, and full of character, carrying an energy that feels at once retro and freshly innovative.

The band isn’t afraid to blend influences, and what emerges is a collection that seems like a ritual as much as an album.

The opener, Ointment, immediately hooks you with a mix of Velvet Underground shades and Clash-inspired grit. There’s a raw punk-rock heartbeat pulsing beneath the track, while the retro atmosphere lends it an almost timeless edge.

Next comes The Sun Is Dying, a nostalgic yet slightly dystopian ballad. A delicate guitar arpeggio carries the song while the vocals, almost spoken, add weight and mystery. It moves slowly, but in that pace lies its intensity, pulling you deeper into its strange twilight world.

La Revolution bursts in with avant-garde rhythms and a theatrical vocal delivery. It’s chaotic, unpredictable, and yet magnetic in its boldness. The track feels less like a song and more like a performance piece, leaving you stunned by its sheer audacity.

Summer’s Gone shifts the mood again. It’s atmospheric, experimental, and built on a melody that doesn’t always lean on rhythm. The song carries instability, its pulse shifting unexpectedly, while sly bass lines and hypnotic guitar progressions maintain a steady intrigue. It is a piece that proves the band’s appetite for experimentation.

Then comes Disturbance, one of the highlights. Fast, sharp, and commanding, it hits with the urgency of acid punk. The vocals feel like orders being barked out, daring the listener to follow along. It’s abrasive and innovative, unmistakably HalfCutLemon.

Closing track We Know Their Names draws on a riff that almost teases the listener, with flashes reminiscent of Tom Morello. The vocal tone turns prophetic, whispering like an oracle before the distorted guitars unleash with controlled intensity in the chorus. It ends the record with an unforgettable mix of tension and release.

This Ain’t Real is more than just a musical statement—it’s an initiation. Listening feels like entering a parallel universe where rules are bent, expectations are broken, and creativity thrives.
