Good Day Noir Family,
NUDNIK’s Under The Underground signals that this is not a conventional record. The sonorities feel innovative, yet they carry a clear gaze toward the past.

There are distinct ‘80s textures woven into the fabric of the album, and in the third track, there’s an unmistakable nod to Bowie, particularly reminiscent of Space Oddity. It’s a reinterpretation through a personal lens.
Robert Marc Lieblein, the visionary artist behind NUDNIK, comes from Las Vegas—a city defined by bright lights and spectacle. Interestingly, his music travels in the opposite direction. Instead of neon glamour, he explores darker and more introspective territory. The contrast makes the project even more intriguing. While Las Vegas dazzles on the surface, Under The Underground descends into something shadowed and reflective.
The album unfolds as a sonic journey that blends intense, thoughtful lyrics with futuristic and slightly dystopian atmospheres. These elements stimulate the imagination, almost triggering dreamlike visions. The production choices reinforce that feeling. Synth textures and layered arrangements create depth without overwhelming the listener. At the same time, the melodic structures remain central, guiding the experience from track to track.
I also sensed subtle traces of Lou Reed in the storytelling approach. There’s a conversational honesty in certain vocal lines, paired with an urban poetic edge. Yet NUDNIK’s identity remains distinct. For example, “Pillow” pushes forward with a strong guitar riff, injecting power and urgency into the sequence. In contrast, “Love Is Eternal” shifts into an atmospheric and intriguing ballad, revealing the album’s emotional range.
The dynamic flow keeps the listener engaged. Some tracks lean toward intensity and momentum; others slow down to invite reflection. This balance underscores a clear artistic vision. NUDNIK understands his direction and communicates it with conviction.
Under The Underground operates as an introspective voyage and as a manifesto on the fragility of time. It reminds us that life moves quickly, almost like a mirage, and these songs pull us inside that realization. A remarkable and cohesive body of work.
