After Austin synth-pop group Sphynx went on hiatus in 2019, frontman Aaron Miller found himself lost. With hundreds of unfinished songs, he questioned his musical identity before rediscovering his love for songwriting.
Merging his synth-pop roots with Americana influences, Miller introduced Josie Lockhart in 2021 with Santa Rosa, mixed by Chris Coady (Beach House, Grizzly Bear). The album gained international radio play and features from BBC, KUTX, and American Songwriter.
For his sophomore album, What Golden Hues, Miller moved from DIY recording to full studio production. Working with producer Modern Medicine and mixer Steve Christensen (Khruangbin, Leon Bridges), he refined his sound with top musicians in Austin and Nashville, crafting a warm, lived-in record.
