Where To Begin is Danielle Dennis’ Single Out Now
The song begins with a delicate yet tense arpeggio, a musical gesture that feels like an invitation to something deeper.
The minimalist arrangement creates an intense atmosphere, with Dennis’s ethereal voice entering soon after, its unique timbre impossible to ignore.
There’s an immediate sense of intimacy as Dennis’s vocals come through crystal clear, as if she’s standing right in front of you.
Her voice has an otherworldly quality—high and airy—but there’s something undeniably grounded about it. It doesn’t just float through the air; it cuts straight to the core. You could say it’s hypnotic, but there’s more than just that. It’s a voice that makes you feel the weight of the lyrics, which explore the struggle of overcoming trauma.
As the song progresses, it slowly builds in intensity. The arrangement stays minimalist, but subtle additions like soft percussion and a touch of fuzzy guitar provide a sense of growing tension. The song never rushes, allowing space for Dennis to fully express the raw emotion behind the lyrics.
The guitar, quiet in the background, seems to represent an obstacle that tries to pull you back, a force that keeps pulling you into the pain while Dennis’s delivery suggests the desire to break free.
The production is remarkable in its clarity, enhancing the sense that Dennis is right there in the room with you, singing directly to your heart. Every note feels personal, every shift in the song’s mood purposeful, making “Where To Begin” not just a listening experience but an emotional journey.
“Where To Begin” is a song about facing personal struggles and the journey of moving forward. It’s an exquisite mreminding us of the delicate balance between pain and release.

Danielle Dennis is a San Francisco-born singer-songwriter now based in the French Quarter of New Orleans. After years of fronting cover bands and organizing grassroots shows, she began writing original music in the wake of a life-altering breakup. Her sound is rooted in folk rock, but her debut project also explores pop, trip-hop, and punk influences.
Danielle’s music is raw, emotional, and deeply personal, shaped in part by her experience with complex PTSD. Her latest single, “Where To Begin,” dives into the difficult process of confronting trauma and emotional recovery. The track marks the third single from her forthcoming debut EP, produced with Tom Moth (Florence + The Machine) and Eric Anduha. The project is a deeply intimate journey—reflected in everything from the lyrics to the cover art, shot in the very home where many of the songs were born.

The lyrics feel like they’re trying too hard. Also doesn’t feel like the singer’s authentic voice- she’s attempting to be another Stevie Nicks but the thing is, there’s only one Stevie nicks. Inspiration is cool but the imitation falls incredibly flat. Haven’t listened to her other releases so I’m curious if there’s some originality there
