Good Day Noir Family,
our “E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like” section is dedicated to Darkhues. I discovered this Artist while shuffling songs on Spotify and I liked his musical ideas.
More than an album we are faced with a sonic journey. A musical path that you have to listen to with your eyes closed, completely trusting the artist.
Something like Dante did in the Divine Comedy with Virgil that accompanied him on that fantastic journey.
Closing my eyes I imagined incredible worlds. Some songs reminded me of the Blade Runner scenarios and others the Mad Max desert.
Rain, heat, blue and yellow all these elements fused together to create a unique and original musical blend.
This artist loves to experiment and he is brave to follow as yet unexplored sound paths.
His courage is paying off because the result is a very interesting and innovative album.
An artist to keep under the radar.

Darkhues is the new project from Hugh Smith. After singing for numerous years in London and Auckland bands ( Haawaaiii, Glowdogs) and experimenting with one man bands in Berlin, Smith returns with the debut Darkhues album Soft Fall.
Recorded in West Auckland, The album compliments flavours of post punk/ darkwave electronica with underlying guitars, blended vocals, popping synthesizers and foot-tapping drumming. Darkhues tips their hat to The Cure, Suicide and Joy Division.
