E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like – Kthona

Good Day Noir Family,
our “E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like” section is dedicated to Kthona. I discovered this Band while shuffling songs on Spotify and I liked the energy of their music.

Are you ready for a ride with the Valkyries?

The sound of this band is powerful and uncompromising. Epic, solid and irreverent, in some moments the melody construction reminded me of Rage Against The machine mixed with Alice in Chains.

The chord progression is never predictable and banal and their songs keep you glued to the speakers from the first to the last second.

A special mention to the singer who sings and interprets the words of the lyrics with great emphasis and passion and she reminded me of Sandra Nasić of the Guano Apes.

You feel that these guys have spent a lot of time in the rehearsal room to achieve such an enviable sound understanding.

We are faced with a great band that deserves to play on big stages around the world. A band to keep under the radar for sure.

Epic Energy!

As Chasing Embers, the band released their first single Silent House on 22 October 2018. The song was well received and was picked by Spotify editorial playlist New Blood, while the music video for this single has got more than 60 000 views on YouTube. During the recording of their first album, band’s singer Julie Tallina has also featured on two songs in official HIM World Tribute compilation. After releasing their first full-length album Beckoning Call, the band went on Ukrainian tour and was eventually nominated for a Best Ukrainian Metal Act in winter 2019.

During COVID-19 pandemic the band decided to start over and changed the name to Kthona. The reason was that the original concept of the band didn’t work well with the new material they began to write shortly after the release of the debut album. Besides new music styles (Nu Metal with elements of Rap, Trap and Industrial), Kthona changed their approach to releasing their music. Instead of recording a new full length album in the studio, the band members started to record and mix their songs themselves, as well as the music videos which are also filmed and edited by the band members.
