Good Day Noir Family,
our “E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like” section is dedicated to La Nique. I discovered this Band while shuffling songs on Spotify and I liked their unique style of music.
This band offers a very original sound, a recited music that sometimes makes you think of a musical rather than a rock/pop song.
I would see this music for theatrical interpretations for sure.
The continuous melodic and dynamic variations go well with a story interpreted by actors.
In general, the arrangements are very well thought out and the instruments used are varied and engaging.
The sound of La Nique is very recognizable and they manage to entertain the listener from the first to the last second.
Their songs are very well executed musically I would have just kept the voice slightly lower and more into the mix, otherwise, this band knows their stuff very well.
Give Me Your Heart is La Nique’s Single Out Now!
Theatrical and Passionate!
It was the first day of pre-education for the Conservatory of Amsterdam. ”Hey man, excited too?” said the singer-songwriter to the Red Hot Chilli Peppers fan. They got lost in their excitement right away. Searching for a way to blow off their musical steam, they took the path together.
In 2019 that path lead via Paradiso and Melkweg to the final in the race for the Amsterdam Pop-prize. ”This band makes real songs… The image is right and their music can be played on the radio right away” (Joël Kopp) ”With words from the heart they take by the hand into their story” (Eline Vaarzon Morel)
The path lead the band to making the EP Summer in Amsterdam aswell. An indie-folk record inspired by Mumford and Sons, Springsteen & Damien Rice. The Strings and Horns of their Barbe Rouge Orchestra got involved to get it up a notch.
Direction is Royal Theater Carré. Estimated Time of Arrival? Someday. Until then the band is going to make beautifull steps. Come with us on our way to Carré!
