Good Day Noir Family,
our “E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like” section is dedicated to At The Grove. I discovered this Band (One Man Band) while shuffling songs on Spotify and I liked his unique and intricate way of composing music.
From the very first notes I liked the sound of this artist who offers unique and refined music.
We are faced with a very eclectic artist who has a very original compositional style.
The chord progression is never banal and obvious and encompasses many musical genres ranging from rock to jazz to prog.
The compositional ability of this artist is very high and manages to entertain the listener from the first to the last second with the continuous rhythmic and harmonic variations that he manages to create.
The, even more, incredible thing is that we are in front of One Band Man, yes, everything you hear is recorded by one person…I would say absolutely fantastic.
The production is excellent and the musical execution flawless.
A great artist to keep under the radar that I recommend to everyone.
…And All The Fear We Left Behind is At The Grove’s Album Out Now!
Intricately Beautiful!
AT THE GROVE is an instrumental post rock / progressive rock band from Münster, Germany.
The sole member is Dennis Abstiens. He writes all the songs. He is responsible for all instruments, production, mixing, and mastering of the music.
As Dennis is a formally trained drummer, drums play a leading role for AT THE GROVE. A passion for complex rhythm and odd beats, beyond the usual 4/4, is the signature sound of AT THE GROVE. It’s not about being complicated at all costs though. Rather, despite the rhythmic complexity, the listener should find a reference point in catchy harmonies and melodies that ensures that the music remains in its flow. Moreover the epic sounds have an almost cinematic style, and create a special atmosphere.
Despite being solely instrumental, each song tells a story through the music. This can be an event, a memory, a place, or an image. Careful thought was placed into song titles.
The band’s name is inspired by the location of production – a house next to a grove.
