our “E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like” section is dedicated to Black Star Jackals. I discovered this Band while shuffling songs on Spotify and I liked their sound.
As soon as I hit the play button, their compositional method reminded me in some way of the Incubus.
An alternative rock, effective, direct but not at all obvious and banal. A very modern production, interesting sounds and every little nuance kept under control.
The drums are followed like a shadow from the bass and this rhythmic groove manages to give a nice energy to the whole song.
Beautiful electric guitars, a distortion that focuses on low frequencies and which makes the song very convincing.
The voice with its high and confident timbre distinguishes, even more, the sound of this talented band.
A band to keep under the radar because they propose themselves to the world with professionally produced music and with a precise identity.

Glasgow based Black Star Jackals burst on to the scene in 2019 with debut single Maybe winning great critical acclaim. The band then went on to win the Scottish final of the Soundwaves Music Competition. Since then the alt-rock 4 piece have quickly garnered new fans, radio airplay and positive reviews from industry professionals thanks to their infectious melodies and hard rock vibes.
