E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like – Brophy’s Law

Good Day Noir Family,
our “E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like” section is dedicated to Brophy’s Law. I discovered this Band while shuffling songs on Spotify and I liked the tradition that is savored by listening to their music.

Are you ready for a trip to Ireland?

Are you ready to get lost in those mossy meadows and dance drunkenly in the fisherman’s bars of Connemara?

This music makes you breathe those lands, this music makes you smell the barrels that age the whiskey.

Music that has deep roots in the history of these magnificent people.

The Irish are proud and strong people that in their history have always been able to put themselves at stake to look for a better future.

These were the songs that immigrants sang and danced during the crossing of the Atlantic to reach the new world. They were looking to give themselves new opportunities for a better life.

The Irish are cheerful people, able to laugh and joke but also to fight and work hard.

I like to listen to popular, traditional songs because these songs are like books that tell the personality of an entire nation.

The production of these songs is beautiful and manages to maintain an attachment to the roots but does so in a modern way.

The Bachelor is Brophy’s Law’s Single Out Now!

The tradition of a nation in music!

Brophy’s Law IRE/UK/DK release their all time live favourite live track ”The Bachelor”, a strong traditional and authentic folk punk classic sound with an alternative edge. As the John Peel centre in the UK appropiatly describes Brophy’s Law, ”Where the Pogues meet the Clash”. The release comes in good time for this years St.Patricks Day celebrations.

Brophy says he wrote this at the age of 18 in the shoes of Shane McGowen heavily influenced by growing up watching the Pogues performing in their glory days. They sang about the drink- ing holes of London and more drinking, a great recipe for this bar room classic ”The Bachelor” a song that paints a picture of a working class guy who’s surrenders his life to the devil in the jar, avoids marriage and drinks himself insane.
