our “E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like” section is dedicated to Vanessa Anne Redd. I discovered this Artist while shuffling songs on Spotify and I was fascinated by her music.

I immediately liked the way of composing music of this talented artist.
A sinuous and sweet voice immediately mesmerized me as the mermaids did with Ulysses and her melodies spoke directly to my heart and soul.
A chord progression never predictable and banal that demonstrates a great compositional ability and makes her sound immediately recognizable.
While listening to her music, I closed my eyes and began to travel with my mind.
My imagination drove me to ride a horse through the English countryside until I reached the white cliffs of Dover, where I stopped and admired the stormy sea.
I felt free and wild and I thank her for the incredible emotions she gave me with her music.
An excellent discovery that I recommend to everyone.

DC Drawers is Vanessa Anne Redd’s Single
Vanessa Anne Redd is a London based British/German singer-songwriter. Her third solo record “Sweet Way Around” is out this summer. It was written in a French forest glade, on a Czech mountainside, on a German road trips and on top of buses in London. Recorded straight to analogue tape, at Gizzard Studios, she continues her contemporary folk on from fairytale “Zumbo Waxes”, inspired by visions of an Italian Baroque waxwork sculptor, and her critically acclaimed debut “Behind the Wall”.
Her alternative folk-rock mixes dark and light, from fuzz droning, finger picked guitars, sparkling piano, Hammond, percussion, strings and trumpet. Inspired by Syd Barrett, Holly Golightly, Nico, Leonard Cohen, PJ Harvey and Angel Olson, Vanessa’s had support from BBC6’s Steve Lamacq, Lauren Laverne and Radio X’s John Kennedy, praise by tastemakers such as Clash Magazine, had Album of the Month recommendations and been referred to by UK music magazine Loud & Quiet as in the “singer-songwriter premier league”.
She’s previously released albums as part of electronic act Rubicks, and alt-folk duo Six Years, has toured the UK, Europe, Canada and USA with the likes of Gary Numan and John Foxx and played SXSW and Canadian Music Week. Vanessa co-runs her own label Sharp Attack Records with long time collaborator Marc Makarov with whom she has been co-producing acts on their label. She also makes her own films and videos to accompany her own music.
