E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like – Dopplegangers

Good Day Noir Family,
our “E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like” section is dedicated to Dopplegangers. I discovered this Duo while shuffling songs on Spotify and I liked their unique way of composing music.

The compositional style of this duo intrigued me a lot, a modern sound that however takes inspiration from the past and manages to create a perfect balance between two different approaches to music.

Their new single ‘Three Steps South’ reminded me of Cameo but at the same time also the Empire of the Sun.

A mix of genres that has the ability to create a unique recipe that distinguishes the unique genre created by this duo.

Electronic sounds and hypnotic voices entertain the listener from the first to the last second and you are enchanted to hear the sonic world created by these guys.

A careful choice of sounds and attention to every smallest nuance makes the Dopplegangers’ music of absolut quality.

Highly recommended.

Three Steps South is Dopplegangers’ Single Out Now!

Refined and Hypnotic!

Dopplegangers is fronted by twin brothers Robert and Lewis Mawer. Originally from a small town in North Yorkshire, both brothers moved down to London in 2015 to pursue careers in music. Initially, the twins worked as guitarists and songwriters, collaborating with other like-minded musicians around the capital.

Three Steps South is the first step in a new direction for the band. “It is the first of our releases to feature only our own vocals, and a stark departure from the more retro vibe of previous releases”. While this single does retain glimmers of our retro surfy guitar sounds, a new production style has injected a more contemporary pop feel into the mix. The lyrics detail the trials and tribulations of moving to London from a small town and trying to get a foothold in such an unrelenting industry.
