Good Day Noir Family,
our “E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like” section is dedicated to Driving South. I discovered this Band while shuffling songs on Spotify and I liked the vibes of their music.
The sound of this band immediately fascinated me because somehow it reminded me of the atmosphere of Tarantino’s films.
As I was listening to the beautiful and wild melodies of this Ep I closed my eyes and saw myself driving my convertible through the endless Australian roads with no precise destination in mind.
This music is free and sincere and carries with it a rock spirit that makes it intriguing.
You can feel the passion that Driving South have for composing and interpreting their music, these guys have managed to create a truly enviable alchemy.
Their sound reminded me at times of Lou Reed at other times in ZZ Top and although their sound is more mellow the chord progression even made me think of the Ramones.
A very interesting band that I recommend everyone to go and listen to.
Dog Trap Road is Driving South’s Ep Out Now!
Deep and Intense!
Driving South are an Australian band based in Sydney. Formed from the remnants of a couple of bands and play mainly original songs around Sydney’s diminishing venues.
Once Covid hit and all live performances were put on hold, the band decided to work on a number of songs with the aim of recording an EP. A final group of 5 songs were selected that reflect the styles and feel of the band.
The songs were recorded live in the studio and capture the live, raw sound of Driving South.
