The music of this band is fascinating.
A psychedelic folk rock with nostalgic and paranoid overtones that immediately hooked me.
Firefly’s melody is intense and the strings enrich this melody with emotions.
The voice is hypnotic and manages to make you travel with your imagination. A compositional style that is inspired by the past but which at the same time seems to come from the future.
Powers of the Monk are a band with a unique artistic vision. Try to imagine Simon & Garfunkel mixed with Pet Shop Boys and Noir Desir… maybe a bit brave comparison but these are some bands that came to my mind while listening to their music.
Firefly is a beautiful song with deep lyrics that have the ability to move the listener.
A great find that I recommend to everyone.

Powers of the Monk is a band from Detroit, Michigan, consisting of original members Detroit Monk and Pontiac Powers. The band was originally formed in 2006 and put on hiatus in 2009. Now they have returned with new music and a new direction.
The original band was more experimental, while this version is song based. Firefly is our fourth song release. We release about one song per month. Firefly is a story about a wannabe terrorist that see’s messages in the blinking lights of fireflies at night. His mental instability leads him into a world of terror that he is not prepared for.
