E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like – Greenness

Good Day Noir Family,
our “E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like” section is dedicated to Greenness. I discovered this Duo while shuffling songs on Spotify and I really liked the atmosphere of their music.

The music of this duo has impressed me for creativity and originality.

Music that seems to come from the center of the earth, sounds that bewitch you and send you away to a distant universe.

In some passages, it reminded me of Björk’s way of making music.

An ethereal and angelic voice, a high and magical timbre capable of reaching the soul and whispering in the ear of your unconscious.

Meditative music that hides something mysterious.

While listening to the I recalled a quote by Nietzsche “And if you gaze long into an abyss, the abyss also gazes into you”.

The songs of Greenness do not leave escape, this is not background music, their songs carry a message with a deep meaning.

I love the sounds they used… unusual and modern that give a touch of Sci-fi to their music.

For some reason, their sound reminded me of the movie “La Belle Verte”. I’m sure their songs would have been the perfect soundtrack for that movie.

Solace is Greenness’ Single Out Now!

Magic in music!

Greenness is the musical project of French singer-songwriter Cess Frangi and English producer and composer Graham Pratt.

Drawing inspiration from hybrid genres, such as trip-hop and folktronica, the music of Greenness aims to create an immersive and emotional experience through the use of various acoustic instruments merged with electronic beats, sound effects, field recordings and evocative bilingual lyrics, in a bid to explore and deepen our connection with ourselves, each other and the environment.

Based in Brighton, the pair has performed in some of the city’s biggest venues (Brighton Centre, Concorde 2, The Haunt…), opened at a sold-out event in London’s iconic Royal Albert Hall and toured across the UK, France, Spain and Germany, equally at ease with a full backing band on festival stages or in smaller settings with their more intimate, stripped-back duo set. Notable performances include supporting US folk artists Marissa Nadler and Handmade Moments, opening for UK top 10 rock band The Slow Readers Club and sharing a stage with the likes of Alice Russell, Orbital, Dub Pistols and Asian Dub Foundation.

Following the successful launch of two thematic EPs (Bicephaly in 2016 and Cyclicity in 2018), Greenness are now working on their debut album Sunrooms, set to be released independently in spring 2021.

Each song of the album will also be released month by month throughout the year (12 tracks in 12 months) with its own music video.
