E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like – Grey Tower Heights

Good Day Noir Family,
our “E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like” section is dedicated to Grey Tower Heights. I discovered this Artist while shuffling songs on Spotify and was amazed by the atmosphere created by her music.

I was bewitched by the melodies and voice of this fantastic artist.

A sweet and intriguing vocal timbre that seems to hide a secret, an ancestral nostalgia capable of speaking directly to the soul and heart of the listener.

Gray Tower Heights’ new single “Worse Fears” is a deep ballad that made me fly with my imagination.

I imagined myself walking barefoot through the English countryside, wandering aimlessly in search of myself.

I was literally mesmerized by her voice and felt like Ulysses when she heard the chant of the mermaids during his Odyssey.

Gray Tower Heights is a mature artist and offers refined songs, impeccably conceived. A wonderful discovery that I recommend to everyone.

Deep and Magical!

Grey Tower Heights was born as a solo project, following a long career of collaboration. Drawing on themes of lost love, fragility and our tenuous sense of self, the songs are steeped in melancholy. Piano led, lyrically dark and narrative in nature, these songs are lifted by haunting vocals and complex harmonies. Taking inspiration from artists such as Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits and Nick Cave, Grey Tower Heights shines a light on the darkness that exists in us all.

Lyrics often drive the writing process for Grey Tower Heights, with elaborate tales and colourful characters at the heart of their songs, and the name itself is no exception. Grey Tower Heights is a dilapidated mansion block where Rita drinks through her memories in her squalid bedsit: the house by the sea that lures couples into a life of retired bitterness: the white walled room where we sit in silence and wait for dawn. Grey Tower Heights exists in many forms – sometimes it’s a place of comfort, at others, it’s the door that you’re compelled to open, even though you’re terrified of what’s on the other side.
