E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like – Hairy Penguins

Good Day Noir Family,
our “E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like” section is dedicated to Hairy Penguins. I discovered this Band while shuffling songs on Spotify and I really liked the fascinating melodies of their songs.

The sounds of this band struck me immediately.

We are in front of musicians who like to experiment and take new and innovative ways of making music.

Their songs are an unstable but safe journey, pressing the play button feels like venturing into an unknown land.

You only see the start but you don’t know the dangers you may encounter on your way.

The constant variations and the ambiguous but fascinating melodic choices unsettle the listeners, keeping them on the edge of their seats the entire time.

The tension grows slowly and the best thing to do while listening to this music is to let yourself go and let  The Hairy Penguins guide you on this sonic journey.

They will get you safely to your destination because they definitely know what they are doing.

A band that I absolutely recommend for their innovative approach and creativity.

Triptych is Hairy Penguins’ Ep Out Now!

Different, original music!

Some would say Hairy Penguins was formed in 2019, some might say it was actually years before. Hairy Penguins is the product of singer/songwriter/producer Kevin De Souza’s creativity. Often approaching the topics of mental health, states of mind and a point of view on self-appreciation, the band evolves through a mix of post-hardcore and prog, with a touch of pop-punk and 2000’s emo.

In 2019, the first EP “The Coffee Stains” was released, but not happy with the end result, the band decided to take it down and start from scratch. The addition of Tristan Renet (“Tritriren“, “Maps and Foils“) as a live band member, brought Kevin’s creativity to a whole new level in 2020, leading the band to not being able to decide which new demos should be left out. From this batch, the new debut EP Triptych was born.
