Hors d’Oeuvres Part 2 is Sqwerv’ Ep Out Now

Good Day Noir Family,
Sqwerv’s latest EP, “Hors d’Oeuvres Part 2,” is a genre-bending smorgasbord that will leave you wanting more.

Hors d’Oeuvres Part 2 is Sqwerv’ Ep Out Now

Imagine a psychedelic jam session between a group of flower-power hippies and a futuristic alien band, and you’re starting to get the picture.

The opening track, “Majik,” is a hypnotic trip straight to the cosmos. The melody is beautifully mesmerizing, pulling you into Sqwerv’s unique sonic world.

“Croc Stomp” throws it back a bit, with classic rock influences bubbling up thanks to a prominent Hammond organ effect. But fear not, space cadets, the guitar solo erupts with pure Pink Floyd-esque emotion, taking you back out among the stars.

“Lately” brings a shift in mood, opting for a more ethereal and almost paradisiacal vibe. This track also features a vocal melody cameo, adding another layer to Sqwerv’s already impressive universe.

Throughout the EP, Sqwerv’s musicianship shines. Their playful experimentation is reminiscent of Frank Zappa’s genre-defying spirit, while their instrumental talent occasionally reaches the soaring heights of Pink Floyd.

“Hors d’Oeuvres Part 2” is a visionary musical project that defies easy categorization. It’s a must-listen for anyone with an open mind and a taste for the unexpected.

Sqwerv’s roots run deep in the Denver music scene. Those roots began to take hold through open jams and a little bit of luck when Sqwerv started playing gigs at bars and small venues in 2017. Since then, Sqwerv has become a staple in Denver’s music scene with bands like Magic Beans, Squeaky Feet, Eminence Ensemble and Rado.

This four-piece Indie-Psych Rock band’s love for classic rock, psychedelic music and improvisation creates a sound that is refreshingly original and exciting. Sqwerv realizes the importance of good songwriting and is always pushing themselves in the improvisation. The band spends a great deal of time writing lyrics, composing, and developing song structure that has grown into a catalogue that ranges from twelve minute prog songs inspired by Homer’s Odyssey to two minute psych songs about love. They are fiercely driven to get to those transcendent, improvised spaces that all jam-music lovers crave. Sqwerv continues to deliver to their audiences through groove, counterpoint, polyrhythms and risk taking.

In the last two years the band has released two studio albums, three live albums and completed two national tours with no plans on stopping. They have had the opportunity to open for acts like Lespecial, Spafford, Eggy and Big Something. They hold themselves to a rigorous tour schedule playing unique shows for their fans on a regular basis. Sqwerv leans into the dark and the beautiful while thriving off of the sounds they create and connections they make.
