E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like – Jake Bracey & the Mountain Laurels

Good Day Noir Family,
our “E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like” section is dedicated to Jake Bracey & the Mountain Laurels. I discovered this Artist while shuffling songs on Spotify and I liked the vibes of his music.

The sound of the acoustic guitar, sincere and direct, immediately captured my attention.

Then a deep and nostalgic voice began to sing a fantastic melody, in the first part of this beautiful song the atmosphere created reminded me of “Down In a Hole” by Alice in Chains.

A convincing and honest sound, this artist together with his band releases passion and manages to ‘kidnap’ the listener from the first to the last second bringing him into his ‘sonic universe’.

This ballad manages to excite and speaks directly to the heart and soul of the listener.

The production is very good, simple but effective, ideal for this type of song. The mix leaves the right space for each sound element and the song breathes well.

A nice discovery that I recommend to everyone.

Nostalgic and Pure!

Singer and guitarist Jake Bracey has been a longtime bar musician. When playing cover after cover to drunken crowds wasn’t feeding the creative flow, a valve opened and original music came forth. 2019 brought the debut EP of Jake Bracey & The Mountain Laurels. A project front by the aforementioned singer along with a rotating cast of friends and collaborators. Created in Everloft Studios in the Philadelphia suburbs, 2019’s Asleep on a Highway was a testament to the band’s signature sound; a boozy, folk-twinged brand of music for lovers of a sad song.  The follow-up, due out in August of 2021 and titled “Grand Avenue Hymns” has been steadily building buzz within the social circles around Bracey and co.
