The opening moments are carried by a gentle piano, tinged with nostalgia and cinematic charm.
Then comes STREA’s voice—ethereal, siren-like, floating over the melody with an elegance that recalls mythical storytelling. Her tone is pure and controlled, hinting at classical training, with the clarity of a soprano but the softness of someone who knows how to shape emotion, not just deliver notes.
The track begins with a delicate, almost fairytale quality—something you might imagine drifting through a forest in a fantasy film.
But just as you’re settling into this dreamy atmosphere, the mood shifts dramatically. Around the 1:50 mark, distorted guitars crash in, breaking the spell and ushering in a much more anthemic energy. The contrast is effective, turning the track into something that feels grand, cinematic, and alive.
This duality—between the soft and the powerful, the intimate and the epic—is what gives “JULY” its strength. STREA (Irene Ettori) is a native of Brescia, born in 1994. She has studied singing and piano from a young age, getting closer to the rock, prog, and folk rock scene of the late nineties during her teenage years. She has participated in various contests, including Area Sanremo, where she became a finalist in 2022. Released last fall, her debut album Gold and Mess has already attracted attention for the quality of its songs.
