Lenses is Dead, Dead Swans’ Album Out Now

Good Day Noir Family,
welcome to Edgar Allan Poets indie music corner. A space dedicated to the best new artists and bands we find around the web. Today’s feature band is Dead, Dead Swans and their album Lenses.

Lenses is Dead, Dead Swans’ Album Out Now

I was immediately fascinated by the compositional style of this band.

The major architect behind Dead, Dead Swans is John E. Swan a songwriter with a lot of experience under his belt. You can feel it by the quality of the melodies and lyrics that he manages to create.

The music of the Dead, Dead Swans takes inspiration from American traditional music but is modern at the same time.

For some reason, I feel like comparing John E. Swan to Eddie Vedder (the one from the Into The Wild soundtrack, no Pearl Jam) and also Counting Crows. The intensity and purity of these songs made me think of these great artists.

Lenses is a mature, intense album…I liked all the tunes. The common thread is nostalgia and true emotions that fill our souls.

I advise everyone to listen to these songs more than once so as to appreciate all the nuances. Doing so you will be able to fully immerse yourself in the beautiful musical universe created by Dead, Dead Swans.

Dead, Dead Swans is primarily John E. Swan as singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, but Lenses features a revolving door of cast members from several different bands all around in the Midwest, including Michael Strike of The Goddamn Band and Pour Choices, playing accordion, Luke Zacherl of 500 Miles toe Memphis on fiddle, Ryan and Dane Dusthimer of Shining Nothing on backing vocals and Joshua Kristopeit of Reynaldo Jenkins and the Tear Drops on various percussion and added production.
