E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like – Listening Club
Good Day Noir Family,
our “E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like” section is dedicated to Listening Club. I discovered this Band while shuffling songs on Spotify and I liked their melodies a lot.
The sound of this band took me back in time. The compositional method reminded me of that of Brian Adams, a slightly vintage rock that manages to be modern at the same time.
A chord progression that is never predictable and banal and that it is able to entertain the listener from the first to the last second.
The production is very good especially the mix that leaves the right space for each sound element and the song breathes well.
A band that for sure have spent a lot of time in the rehearsal room to achieve such an enviable sound understanding.
Their new single ‘Word I Say’ is refined and melodically very moving and manages to excite for the sweetness of the melody.
A nice discovery that I recommend to everyone.

Northern Soul isn’t a term that’s used a lot these days unless describing the good old days, but Hull up-and-comers Listening Club are keeping the fire alive.
Their upbeat new single ‘Word I Say’ is an excellent example of the British take on American stylings, sporting flavours of early pop acts like Roy Orbison with a hint of country sensibilities and all the energy of 80’s guitar pop.
