From the first seconds of “44 w vine,” you’re submerged in a haze of synthetic tones and vocals that feel like they’re drifting in from another dimension. Brown manipulates her voice with a strange softness, as if it’s wrapped in fog, removed yet deeply expressive. It’s a daring start — abstract, glitchy, and touched with a distant melancholy.
The production is sharp and unpredictable. At moments, the track feels like it’s on the verge of breaking apart completely. Silences stretch just long enough to generate unease, while sudden pulses of sound remind you this isn’t ambient music.
“anguish,” the second song, is where Brown fully leans into her experimental instincts. There are shades of Björk’s emotional minimalism, Enya’s celestial textures, and Kate Bush’s narrative intensity, but these are faint echoes rather than foundations. Olivia is chasing her aesthetic, and it’s one steeped in digital dust and emotional residue. Her melodies float above fractured beats, delicate but unafraid, drifting like a mirage that never fully resolves. The emotional weight here is raw, not through volume, but in restraint.
Then “window8.6” flips the script. The track opens with a jittery rhythm that feels more structured, almost danceable, though still wrapped in an industrial coldness.
