E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like – Martellos

Good Day Noir Family,
our “E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like” section is dedicated to Martellos. I discovered this Duo while shuffling songs on Spotify I liked the vibes of their music.

The sound of this duo fascinated me, for some reason their brilliant music reminded me of Beck.

Intricate bass lines accompanied by rich vocal variations give this sound an intriguing uniqueness that places it in an original musical limbo.

The thing that I liked the most is that in some way you feel the musical understanding that has been created between these two guys.

The compositional style is refined and every slightest nuance is kept under control. The chord progression is never predictable and banal and the production is excellent.

A musical project to keep under the radar because the Martellos produce quality music.

Refined and Mature!

Quote: “Martellos was formed over the pandemic. At first between London and Galway, where myself and Kevin were respectively based. This involved Kevin sharing beats he has been working on electronically and me adding guitars and vocals. Having known each other for since college, collaboration felt easy and we soon accumulated some demos we thought were very good. So much so that Kevin decided to quit his job and end his 6 year relationship to move to London and pursue the project full time!

Despite having a similar taste in music, our key influences are very different. I am inspired by vocalists such as Jamie T and Earl Sweatshirt, as well as literary figures like Jack Kerouac. While Kevin takes huge influence from Tame Impala and LCD Soundsystem for this project. With Lorcan on vocals and guitars and Kevin focusing on percussion and bass elements in the tracks, we feel this makes for an interesting mixture of styles!
