E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like – Memphis Stone and The Elevators

Good Day Noir Family,
our “E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like” section is dedicated to Memphis Stone and The Elevators. I discovered this Band while shuffling songs on Spotify and I liked their original sound.

As soon as I hit the play button I was immediately won over by this band’s sound.

A generous amount of reverb gives to the music of this band a magical aura that manages also to be aggressive and irreverent in the typical English style.

Very nice melodic construction, their songs flow well and manage to entertain the listener from the first to the last second with continuous variations.

Even the chord progression is never obvious and banal, you can feel that this band is focused on every little detail.

The general groove is very good and you can hear that these rockers have spent a lot of time in the rehearsal room to reach this enviable sound understanding.

A nice discovery that I absolutely feel like recommending to everyone.

Say Goodbye is Memphis Stone and The Elevators’ Single Out Now!

A very interesting band!

Memphis Stone grew up in 50s (or 60’s) LA before movie to Detroit, and rumour has it he sang as a young boy on loads of famous tracks as he used to hang around the Motown Studios. However, he never got credited as he was a kid. Memphis then went off the rails, before years later two songwriters found him in a bar and talked him into singing on their new songs.

In late 2019 Tom (Weaver) and Lenny (Bonetti), encouraged the legendary singer and soul’s most famous best kept secret, Memphis Stone, back out of retirement and to re-form Memphis Stone and The Elevators.
