E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like – MonkeyRat

Good Day Noir Family,
our “E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like” section is dedicated to MonkeyRat. I discovered this Band while shuffling songs on Spotify and I liked the uniqueness of their compositional style.

Are you ready for an incredible introspective journey?

The music of this band really fascinated me. I put my headphones on and immersed myself in this fantastic musical universe. I felt like I was in a twilight limbo, where day kisses night.

Time has stopped and these 10 minutes have become eternal. The voice of the singer Anna Iachino has the ability to speak directly to the heart and soul of the listener.

The musical arrangements created by Arnold Ludvig and the other members of the band are refined and minimalist and manage to create the right atmosphere.

In some moments the sonic journey created by MonkeyRat reminded me of bands like The Doors … the crescendo of this song is wonderful and the guitar solo is superb.

A beautiful discovery that I recommend to everyone…10 minutes of pure art!

Isolation is MonkeyRat’s Ep Out Now!

Hypnotic!

Isolation is no stranger to the Faroese people living 62 degrees north of nowhere isolated from the rest of the world. However, during the height of the global pandemic, the entire world experienced social isolation on a grand scale; cut off from family and friends. We all hunkered down, kept our distance from everyone protecting ourselves from infection. The lack of affection took a toll on everyone’s mental health and well-being.

In the fall of 2020, Anna was alone in Iceland where she began studying for a Master’s in Music with no possibility of interacting and making new friends. One night, out of unbearable loneliness, she tried to contact her husband and musical partner, Arnold Ludvig, composer, and bassist of MonkeyRat in the Faroe Islands. Saddened by her inability to reach him, upon her return home from a park, words started overflowing her mind. Inspired, Anna quickly started jotting down all the words that kept pouring from her head and wrote this poem – Isolation. To this day, she is grateful and thanks her husband for being unreachable.
