Good Day Noir Family,
our “E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like” section is dedicated to Murnau. I discovered this Duo while shuffling songs on Spotify and I was fascinated by their style.
This is just a genre that I really like. From the first seconds, I was conquered by the music of this band.
The voice for some reason reminded me of Grant Lee Buffalo’s singer Grant-Lee Phillips paired with a fantastic sound reminiscent of the legendary 90s.
The melodic and harmonic construction of the song is perfect for the genre and the sound is left a bit rough, in my opinion a good choice given the genre played by this band.
I found no flaws in Murnau’s music. The vocal timbre is fantastic and the overall sound is powerful epic.
A rock made of sweat and blood that manages to make you feel wild and free.
A great discovery that I recommend to everyone.
Repent is Murnau’s Single Out Now!
Wild and Rock!
Murnau began life over a decade ago in Morrison, IL as a two piece grunge metal act. Playing with the stripped down structure or vocals, guitars and drums, Murnau’s sound is raw, loud… and sometimes a bit catchy.
After a long multi-year hiatus, Murnau reformed in early 2019 and released, Static, a remastered collection of original recordings available on vinyl and digitally. In 2020, they completed their first full length album, Lungs, which Max Allison from the River City Reader described as “a substantial din from their stripped down guitar/drums/vocals configuration as they spill out sessions of torrential scuzz somewhere in the neighborhood of more modern recordings by Melvins and their compatriots Big Business.”
