E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like – Nikolaus Wolf

Good Day Noir Family,
our “E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like” section is dedicated to Nikolaus Wolf. I discovered this Artist while shuffling songs on Spotify and liked the vibes of his music.

The sound of this artist immediately made me step into the past.

The psychedelic arpeggio with which the new single Easy Riders begins made me imagine being on the Woodstock hill in the late 60s.

This music is able to make you travel with your imagination. Although this sound is inspired by the way of composing of legendary bands of the past it manages to be at the same modern.

The chord progression is never predictable and banal and the rhythmic variations and harmonic intuitions entertain the listener from the first to the last second.

The production is perfect for the genre, as sincere and direct as the music proposed by Nikolaus Wolf.
An artist to keep under the radar for sure.

Psychadelic!

Even if Reeperbahnfestival announces him as “‘Weird Guy From Bavaria”, this guy does not sound Bavarian at all. Michi Rieder lives out his soft spot for Sixties Rock, Neo Folk & Brit Pop to the fullest under the name of his great-grandpa “Nikolaus Wolf”. Accordingly, the Süddeutsche Zeitung calls him a “chameleon of pop music of the second half of the 20th century.” Well, a certain sympathy for Liam Gallagher or John Lennon cannot be ignored.

With his first EP “Roekki Zimt” (2017), Nikolaus Wolf has already caused some stir, since he “unites the spirit of the British 1960s with contemporary folk interpretations” (intro). He composes music for film and plays over 100 shows in half of Europe, while the song “Human Lights” runs up and down in a commercial in the EU & USA.
