Good Day Noir Family,
Some artists write songs, others build states of mind. FREE/MAN belongs to the second category.

RECONNECTION is FREE/MAN’s EP Out Now

His EP Reconnection is an introspective, emotional journey through alternative atmospheres, quiet reflections, and shadowed hope.

It feels crafted for listeners who crave depth rather than disposable hooks—music that invites you to sit with it and live inside its world for a while.

The opening track, “Not Tomorrow,” sets a strong foundation with its syncopated rhythm and refined groove. The percussion is tight and urban in character, while the guitar work introduces an indie folk shimmer that blends beautifully with alternative rock sensibilities. The result is an urban-night vibe, the kind of song made for city streets after dark. Its structure is clean, but emotionally layered—you sense something unresolved beneath the surface, and that tension gives the track momentum.

“Bluebird” follows and takes a softer turn. This track strips away rhythmic tension and leans into emotional vulnerability. The vocal performance is intimate and sincere, fragile but steady. The arrangement builds slowly but organically, with strings entering in the chorus to expand the emotional dimension of the track. The use of orchestration is tasteful—it elevates without overwhelming.

Then comes a bold move—FREE/MAN’s reinterpretation of “Redemption Song.” Covering Bob Marley is always a risk, but here the artist avoids imitation and brings new personality to the classic. His version shifts the song into a UK-influenced indie-folk framework, especially in the vocal interpretation. It’s a respectful transformation rather than a remake.

The EP closes with “Two Witches,” easily the most atmospheric track on the record. Built on minimalist guitar textures and dream-like layering, the song feels suspended in time. There are moments where the haunting introspection of Radiohead and the emotional tone of Gary Jules seem to merge into something haunting yet peaceful. The chorus moves like drifting smoke—mysterious, beautiful, and elusive.

In total, Reconnection is honest music. FREE/MAN doesn’t rely on theatrics or overproduction—he trusts melody, tone, and emotion. The EP feels like a conversation with the self, a moment of clarity inside confusion. It is beautifully written and deeply human.

RECONNECTION is FREE/MAN’s EP Out Now

FREE/MAN is the musical alter ego of London songwriter Charlie Freeman. Raised in Portobello’s creative scene, he began writing songs at 19 when the guitar became both meditation and emotional refuge during his father’s illness. His music explores duality, love, spirituality, suffering, and the search for freedom.
Now returning with renewed purpose, FREE/MAN releases his stirring take on Bob Marley’s “Redemption Song”, ahead of a new album in 2026 and tour dates across the USA, Mexico, Argentina, and the UK.
