E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like – Ryan Fischer

Good Day Noir Family,
our “E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like” section is dedicated to Ryan Fischer. I discovered this Artist while shuffling songs on Spotify and I was intrigued by his style.

As soon as I hit the play button I immediately liked this artist’s way of singing.

A compositional approach that looks to the past but manages to be modern at the same time.

In some passages, the way of interpreting the song reminded me of Jim Morrison and the Doors.

This sound made my mind fly and I saw myself in an old convertible on the streets of L.A in the ’70s….I felt free!

The production is perfect for the genre, the mix leaves the right space for each sound element and the song breathes well.

A nice discovery that I recommend to everyone.

Ryan Fischer is a Canadian, Toronto born Vancouver based singer-songwriter who performs his own style of Indie Folk music. Previously, he wrote and directed a series of award winning personal documentaries that screened internationally in festivals and on TV. Ryan began writing songs as an impulse to get through tough times in Toronto where he was struggling to make films and pay the rent; songs initially meant to only cheer and empower himself until the songs took over and led him to pursue a new career.

After a 2 month trip to Mexico in the winter of 2015 – where he survived a dangerous encounter with a riptide in Zipolite (“Beach of The Dead”) – he returned to focus solely on music. In 2016 he rolled out to the West Coast of BC in search of mountains, forests, ocean air and musical adventure. His songs mix self-deprecating humour with recurring themes of self-doubt and a longing for solace.
