E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like – Said Sara

Good Day Noir Family,
our “E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like” section is dedicated to Said Sara. I discovered this Artist while shuffling songs on Spotify and I liked his unique way of composing music.

We are faced with a very eclectic artist who certainly is bold enough to experiment.

His voice in some moments reminded me of Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins. A raw, sincere voice that immediately succeeds in distinguishing the sound of this artist.

The chord progression of his songs is never predictable and banal and manages to entertain the listener from the first to the last second.

The production is simple but effective and in my opinion perfect for the genre proposed by this artist.

We are faced with an artist who has clear ideas on how to propose his music to the masses and does it in a courageous and unique way.

Great find and I recommend keeping him under your radar.

Real and Bold!

San Francisco, CA, USA’s Said Sara, aka David Benson, is coming full-circle.

Said Sara is a genuine extension of Benson’s essence. As a child of the 70’s, he grew up on the singer-songwriters of that era of emergence: Baez, Stevens, Croce, Taylor, Buckingham, Mitchell. But Benson was/is a metalhead and a punk (yes, both) in the 80s, 90s and beyond. In 2008, he joined crust punk-turned death metal warhorse Acephalix, of which he remains the drummer. He also currently sits behind the kit for post-hardcore vs. electronic noise denomination Plaguestate.

There is a 2-way passage between the poppy, acoustic-rooted Said Sara and the aforementioned strains of sonic extremity: Transition. David spent 15 years as guitarist/vocalist-turned vocalist of this genre-obscuring clique, whose sole full-length, 1994’s Spine, was released by Black Flag guitarist Greg Ginn’s ultra-legendary SST Records.
