Good Day Noir Family,
our “E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like” section is dedicated to Sarpa Salpa. I discovered this Band while shuffling songs on Spotify and I really liked the energy of their music.
Listening to the music of this band you are struck by how their sound winks at the ’80s but at the same time manages to be very modern.
The chosen sounds, very sophisticated, immediately distinguish the originality of this band that with a modern chord progression and never banal melody lines make their music fresh and innovative.
I liked the understanding of the rhythmic session where the drums push incessantly followed by the bass like a shadow.
An incredible harmony that creates an enviable groove.
The bright and precise guitars give that funk touch that makes you want to dance.
Beautiful voice, a vocal timbre that in some passages reminded me of Chris Martin of Cold Play.
A band of undoubted talent that proposes music that can surely please a large audience.
Another Live is Sarpa Salpa’s Album Out Now!
Cool music that makes you dance!
Swimming against the tide in 2020 Sarpa Salpa still managed to release an ep, 2 singles, a 10 date tour & socially distanced festivals and gigs – the band were due to headline the Escape Escape in Brighton for BBc Introducing before the pandemic killed that massive opportunity and wiped out any best laid plans for the year.
The band gained x2 ‘next wave’ artist features on Jack Saunders Indie Show and scored a ‘Tune of the Week’ on his show in June. The hard work paid off in December when the Student Radio Association championed the band across their network in 2021 as a featured artist alongside Arlo Parks, Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard, Kenny Hoopla & Martha Gunn as well as being awarded an PPL Momentum grant to help further the band’s career this year sponsored by Spotify UK and the Arts Council.
