our “E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like” section is dedicated to Shafto. I discovered this Artist while shuffling songs on Spotify and I liked his compositional style.
The sound of this talented artist immediately intrigued me.
A way of composing music that winks at the past but manages to be modern at the same time.
Shafto’s new single ‘Someone’ reminded me of the atmosphere created by the songs of the Fugees, perhaps due to the magnificent voice of the singer Molly O’Brien.
The production is very professional and it is immediately clear that we are in front of an artist with a lot of experience behind him.
The attention to every little detail is almost obsessive and the choice of sounds is highly sought after.
This beautiful single is accompanied by an amazing video, probably filmed in Super 8 which is of great quality and fits in perfectly with the atmosphere of the song.
Absolutely recommended to everyone.

Shafto has been involved in hip hop for almost 20 years. Starting out as a beatmaker and DJ, he joined forces with his rapper friend, Andy Abstract to form the group JamNation. Soon he found himself picking up the pen and writing lyrics as the group progressed to live shows. JamNation were renowned for the old school boom bap type of hip hop that Shafto has kept with him until today.
With Andy moving to London, Shafto found himself another duo in the form of Shafto and Golden, a friend he met while working in Tesco. The two have performed at various venues around the country to high acclaim. Their Beer, Petrol and Smoke Alarm EP was released in 2015.
While living in Canada in 2011, Shafto had a great idea for an album; a concept album in which each song would describe each day of the week. “Round and Round” was born and the ideas for the songs were laid down. After years of obstacles, Shafto has finally finished the album where he has teamed up with some of the best producers, rappers and singers Ireland have to offer”
