So Damned Alpha is Bladderwrack’s Album Out Now

Good Day Noir Family,
Listening to So Damned Alpha by Bladderwrack is like tumbling headfirst into a raucous back-alley carnival—chaotic, loud, and strangely magnetic.

So Damned Alpha is Bladderwrack’s Album Out Now

From “Vladimir’s Sad,” the band sets the tone with riffs that echo the murky grit of ‘90s grunge, filtered through a jagged, experimental lens.

There’s an eerie folk undercurrent to the melody, as if the ghosts of old English ballads have been electrified and let loose in a dive bar.

“Sleazy Street” lands next, and it does so with a thud—literally. The snare hits like open-palmed slaps, sharp and dry, while the bassline stomps around like it owns the block. It’s dirty, intense, and unashamed of its rawness.

One of the most unforgettable moments comes with “Nanny is a Motivator,” a wild, unhinged anthem that barrels forward with deranged joy. It’s the kind of track that feels like a parade led by punks in party hats—messy, irreverent. There’s an instinctual quality to the band’s performance here, like they’re following some primal cue only they can hear.

“Half Pint” kicks the energy up another notch with a riff that could tear through concrete. There’s something unmistakably Rage Against the Machine in its drive, but where RATM roars with fury, Bladderwrack twists it with sarcasm and theatrical flair. The vocals channel a distinctly British style—part snarl, part smirk—that makes the track all their own.

“Fuck The Man” continues the rebellion, built on syncopated rhythms and tension-filled pauses. It’s a reminder that Bladderwrack isn’t just noisy—they’re tight. The chemistry here is undeniable; this band listens to each other, and the result is a song that hits all the right notes.

The album closes with “The Tale of Little Lord Hanky,” a track that feels like a manic fairytale delivered at full sprint. The vocals veer toward spoken-word, dancing just outside the edges of rap, but remain anchored in their chaotic rock universe. It’s a weird, aggressive, and oddly charming finale.

There’s no neat genre box for Bladderwrack; they operate on instinct, humour, and sheer force.

Wild!

So Damned Alpha is Bladderwrack’s Album Out Now

Bladderwrack is a 3-man rant rock band playing hard rock protest music with uncompromising and unique lyrical content. Bladderwrack was formed as a reaction to the repellent events and specimens dominating our headlines and media, and every song is a tirade directed at a deserving muse.

Bladderwrack features a Victorian undertaker abusing a Gibson through a concoction of shuddering pedals while bellowing furiously through an overdriven microphone, a tall and slender man smashing all hell out of a bass and the thunderous backbone of a gravedigger who howls ferociously while punishing his drum kit. Sleazy Street is the first single from their new as yet untitled 10 track album, to be released on Urinal Vinyl later this year.
